Title: |
Impound produced water for future use |
Text: |
"Another management option for produced water is impoundment use. The impoundment of CBM water is the placement of water produced during operations at the surface in a pit or pond. There are a variety of ways in which operators can impound produced water at the surface. Impoundments can be constructed on or off channel, and the regulatory authority in some states varies based on whether the impoundments are off or on channel. See Figure 24 for a schematic diagram of an off-channel impoundment. The impoundment of produced water can be used as part of a water management plan to provide a variety of disposal options and benefits to both the lease operator and landowners." |
